As Anima’s world expands beyond the borders of Ora to places-and possibilities-æ never before imagined to exist, æ finds ærself asking a question that throws into doubt ær entire purpose: What good is a city if it can’t protect its people? Although ær world is restricted to what æ can see and experience through the Gleaming, Anima takes pride and comfort in keeping Ora safe from all harm.Īll that changes when a mysterious visitor enters the city carrying a cabinet of curiosities from around the world, with a story attached to each item. Anima is one of the cloistered extrasensory humans tasked with watching over Ora's citizens. The book started with Miryem telling us how they are ostracized because of her family’s moneylending business and how they are driven to poverty because his father is not very good with it. And now here I am having just finished the book, utterly amazed with its magic. I wasn’t sure if I’d be up to it so I actively searched for an excerpt, found one, and wow! With just the first line alone, I was completely convinced that I need to read this. On the original Kon-Tiki expedition, Heyerdahl wanted to show that it was possible to cross wide stretches of ocean on a simple, hand-built craft. The expedition chose this route, both to support but also to challenge Heyerdahl’s theories. Their destination is Easter Island, where the rafts will turn around and sail back to South America.
